105. Surah Al-Fil (The Elephant)

سُورَةُ الفيل

Reciter: Sheikh Mishary Rashid Alafasy • Guided by Ustadha Fatima Al-Zahra

Ayah:

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

أَلَمْalamHave not

تَرَtarayou seen

كَيْفَkayfahow

فَعَلَfaʿaladealt

رَبُّكَrabbukayour Lord

بِأَصْحَٰبِbi-aṣḥābiwith (the) Companions

ٱلْفِيلِl-fīli(of) the Elephant

Have you not considered, [O Muhammad], how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant?

أَلَمْalamDid not

يَجْعَلْyajʿalHe make

كَيْدَهُمْkaydahumtheir plan

فِىfīinto

تَضْلِيلٍtaḍlīlinastray

Did He not make their plan into misguidance?

وَأَرْسَلَwa-arsalaAnd He sent

عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimagainst them

طَيْرًاṭayranbirds

أَبَابِيلَabābīla(in) flocks

And He sent against them birds in flocks,

تَرْمِيهِمtarmīhimStriking them

بِحِجَارَةٍbiḥijāratinwith stones

مِّنminof

سِجِّيلٍsijjīlinbaked clay

Striking them with stones of hard clay,

فَجَعَلَهُمْfajaʿalahumThen He made them

كَعَصْفٍkaʿaṣfinlike straw

مَّأْكُولٍۭmakūlineaten up

And He made them like eaten straw.
