12. Surah Yusuf (Joseph)
سُورَةُ يوسفReciter: Sheikh Mishary Rashid Alafasy • Guided by Ustadha Maryam Al-Dimashqiyyah
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
الٓرalif-lām-rāAlif Lam Ra
تِلْكَtil'kaThese
ءَايَٰتُāyātu(are the) verses
ٱلْكِتَٰبِl-kitābi(of) the Book
ٱلْمُبِينِl-mubīnithe clear
Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the clear Book.
إِنَّآinnāIndeed We
أَنزَلْنَٰهُanzalnāhuhave sent it down
قُرْءَٰنًاqur'ānan(as) a Qur'an
عَرَبِيًّاʿarabiyyanin Arabic
لَّعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you may
تَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūnaunderstand
Indeed, We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand.
نَحْنُnaḥnuWe
نَقُصُّnaquṣṣurelate
عَلَيْكَʿalaykato you
أَحْسَنَaḥsanathe best
ٱلْقَصَصِl-qaṣaṣiof stories
بِمَآbimāby what
أَوْحَيْنَآawḥaynāWe have revealed
إِلَيْكَilaykato you
هَٰذَاhādhā(of) this
ٱلْقُرْءَانَl-qur'ānathe Qur'an
وَإِنwa-inalthough
كُنتَkuntayou were
مِنminfrom
قَبْلِهِۦqablihibefore it
لَمِنَlaminasurely among
ٱلْغَٰفِلِينَl-ghāfilīnathe unaware
We relate to you, [O Muhammad], the best of stories in what We have revealed to you of this Qur'an although you were, before it, among the unaware.
لَقَدْlaqadCertainly
كَانَkānathere is
فِىfīin
قَصَصِهِمْqaṣaṣihimtheir stories
عِبْرَةٌʿib'ratuna lesson
لِّأُو۟لِىli-ulīfor people
ٱلْأَلْبَٰبِl-albābi(of) understanding
There was certainly in their stories a lesson for those of understanding.
