8. Surah Al-Anfal (The Spoils of War)
سُورَةُ الأنفالReciter: Sheikh Mishary Rashid Alafasy • Guided by Ustadha Maryam Al-Dimashqiyyah
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
يَسْـَٔلُونَكَyas-alūnakaThey ask you
عَنِʿaniabout
ٱلْأَنفَالِl-anfālithe spoils of war
قُلِquliSay
ٱلْأَنفَالُl-anfāluThe spoils of war
لِلَّهِlillahi(belong) to Allah
وَٱلرَّسُولِwal-rasūliand the Messenger
فَٱتَّقُوا۟fattaqūSo fear
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
وَأَصْلِحُوا۟wa-aṣliḥūand reconcile
ذَاتَdhātathe relations
بَيْنِكُمْbaynikumamong yourselves
وَأَطِيعُوا۟wa-aṭīʿūand obey
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
وَرَسُولَهُۥٓwarasūlahuand His Messenger
إِنinif
كُنتُمkuntumyou are
مُّؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers
They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the bounties [of war]. Say, 'The [decision concerning] bounties is for Allah and the Messenger.' So fear Allah and amend that which is between you and obey Allah and His Messenger, if you should be believers.
إِنَّمَاinnamāOnly
ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَl-mu'minūnathe believers
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(are) those who
إِذَاidhāwhen
ذُكِرَdhukirais mentioned
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
وَجِلَتْwajilatfeel fear
قُلُوبُهُمْqulūbuhumtheir hearts
وَإِذَاwa-idhāand when
تُلِيَتْtuliyatare recited
عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto them
ءَايَٰتُهُۥāyātuhuHis Verses
زَادَتْهُمْzādathumthey increase them
إِيمَٰنًاīmānan(in) faith
وَعَلَىٰwaʿalāand upon
رَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lord
يَتَوَكَّلُونَyatawakkalūnathey rely
The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely —
وَأُو۟لُوا۟wa-ulūAnd those
ٱلْأَرْحَامِl-arḥāmi(of) blood relationship
بَعْضُهُمْbaʿḍuhumsome of them
أَوْلَىٰawlā(are) nearer
بِبَعْضٍbibaʿḍinto one another
فِىfīin
كِتَٰبِkitābi(the) Book
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
بِكُلِّbikulliof every
شَىْءٍshayinthing
عَلِيمٌۢʿalīmun(is) All-Knowing
But those of [blood] relationship are more entitled [to inheritance] in the decree of Allah. Indeed, Allah is Knowing of all things.
