96. Surah Al-'Alaq (The Clot)
سُورَةُ العلقReciter: Sheikh Mishary Rashid Alafasy • Guided by Ustadha Fatima Al-Zahra
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
ٱقْرَأْiq'raRead
بِٱسْمِbis'miin (the) name
رَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lord
ٱلَّذِىalladhīthe One Who
خَلَقَkhalaqacreated
Recite in the name of your Lord who created —
خَلَقَkhalaqaHe created
ٱلْإِنسَٰنَl-insānaman
مِنْminfrom
عَلَقٍʿalaqina clinging substance
Created man from a clinging substance.
ٱقْرَأْiq'raRead
وَرَبُّكَwarabbukaand your Lord
ٱلْأَكْرَمُl-akramu(is) the Most Generous
Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous —
كَلَّاkallāNay
لَاlā(Do) not
تُطِعْهُtuṭiʿ'huobey him
وَٱسْجُدْwa-us'judand prostrate
وَٱقْتَرِبwa-iq'tariband draw near (to Allah)
No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah].
