5. Surah Al-Ma'idah (The Table Spread)
سُورَةُ المائدةReciter: Sheikh Mishary Rashid Alafasy • Guided by Ustadha Maryam Al-Dimashqiyyah
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO you
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnawho
ءَامَنُوٓا۟āmanūbelieve
أَوْفُوا۟awfūFulfill
بِٱلْعُقُودِbil-ʿuqūdithe contracts
أُحِلَّتْuḥillatLawful are made
لَكُمlakumfor you
بَهِيمَةُbahīmatugrazing
ٱلْأَنْعَٰمِl-anʿāmilivestock
إِلَّاillāexcept
مَاmāwhat
يُتْلَىٰyut'lāis recited
عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumto you
غَيْرَghayranot
مُحِلِّىmuḥillīmaking lawful
ٱلصَّيْدِl-ṣaydihunting
وَأَنتُمْwa-antumwhile you
حُرُمٌḥurumun(are in) ihram
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
يَحْكُمُyaḥkumuordains
مَاmāwhat
يُرِيدُyurīduHe wills
O you who have believed, fulfill [all] contracts. Lawful for you are the animals of grazing livestock except for that which is recited to you [in this Qur'an] — hunting not being permitted while you are in the state of ihram. Indeed, Allah ordains what He intends.
لِلَّهِlillahiTo Allah (belongs)
مُلْكُmul'ku(the) dominion
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earth
وَمَاwamāand whatever
فِيهِنَّfīhinna(is) in them
وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He
عَلَىٰʿalā(is) over
كُلِّkullievery
شَىْءٍshayinthing
قَدِيرٌۢqadīrunAll-Powerful
To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is within them. And He is over all things competent.
