73. Surah Al-Muzzammil (The Enshrouded One)
سُورَةُ المزملReciter: Sheikh Mishary Rashid Alafasy • Guided by Ustadha Fatima Al-Zahra
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO you
ٱلْمُزَّمِّلُl-muzzammiluwho wraps himself
O you who wraps himself [in clothing],
قُمِqumiStand (in prayer)
ٱلَّيْلَl-laylathe night
إِلَّاillāexcept
قَلِيلًاqalīlana little
Arise [to pray] the night, except for a little —
إِنَّinnaIndeed
هَٰذِهِۦhādhihithis
تَذْكِرَةٌtadhkiratun(is) a Reminder
فَمَنfamanso whoever
شَآءَshāawills
ٱتَّخَذَittakhadhalet him take
إِلَىٰilāto
رَبِّهِۦrabbihihis Lord
سَبِيلًاsabīlana way
Indeed, this is a reminder, so whoever wills may take to his Lord a way.
إِنَّinnaIndeed
رَبَّكَrabbakayour Lord
يَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknows
أَنَّكَannakathat you
تَقُومُtaqūmustand
أَدْنَىٰadnāless
مِنminthan
ثُلُثَىِthuluthayitwo-thirds
ٱلَّيْلِl-layli(of) the night
وَنِصْفَهُۥwaniṣ'fahuand half of it
وَثُلُثَهُۥwathuluthahuand a third of it
وَطَآئِفَةٌwaṭāifatunand a group
مِّنَminaof
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
مَعَكَmaʿaka(are) with you
وَٱللَّهُwallahuAnd Allah
يُقَدِّرُyuqaddirudetermines
ٱلَّيْلَl-laylathe night
وَٱلنَّهَارَwal-nahāraand the day
عَلِمَʿalimaHe knows
أَنanthat
لَّنlannot
تُحْصُوهُtuḥ'ṣūhuyou are able to count it
فَتَابَfatābaso He has turned
عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumto you
فَٱقْرَءُوا۟fa-iq'raūso recite
مَاmāwhat
تَيَسَّرَtayassarais easy
مِنَminaof
ٱلْقُرْءَانِl-qur'ānithe Qur'an
عَلِمَʿalimaHe knows
أَنanthat
سَيَكُونُsayakūnuthere will be
مِنكُمminkumamong you
مَّرْضَىٰmarḍāsick
وَءَاخَرُونَwaākharūnaand others
يَضْرِبُونَyaḍribūnatraveling
فِىfīin
ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe land
يَبْتَغُونَyabtaghūnaseeking
مِنminof
فَضْلِfaḍli(the) bounty
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
وَءَاخَرُونَwaākharūnaand others
يُقَٰتِلُونَyuqātilūnafighting
فِىfīin
سَبِيلِsabīli(the) way
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
فَٱقْرَءُوا۟fa-iq'raūso recite
مَاmāwhat
تَيَسَّرَtayassarais easy
مِنْهُmin'huof it
وَأَقِيمُوا۟wa-aqīmūAnd establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَl-ṣalatathe prayer
وَءَاتُوا۟waātūand give
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَl-zakatathe Zakah
وَأَقْرِضُوا۟wa-aqriḍūand loan
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
قَرْضًاqarḍana loan
حَسَنًاḥasanangoodly
وَمَاwamāAnd whatever
تُقَدِّمُوا۟tuqaddimūyou send forth
لِأَنفُسِكُمli-anfusikumfor yourselves
مِّنْminof
خَيْرٍkhayringood
تَجِدُوهُtajidūhuyou will find it
عِندَʿindawith
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
هُوَhuwait (is)
خَيْرًاkhayranbetter
وَأَعْظَمَwa-aʿẓamaand greater
أَجْرًاajran(in) reward
وَٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟wa-is'taghfirūAnd seek forgiveness
ٱللَّهَl-laha(of) Allah
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
غَفُورٌghafūrun(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌۢraḥīmunMost Merciful
Indeed, your Lord knows, [O Muhammad], that you stand [in prayer] almost two thirds of the night or half of it or a third of it, and [so do] a group of those with you. And Allah determines [the extent of] the night and the day. He has known that you [Muslims] will not be able to do it and has turned to you in forgiveness, so recite what is easy [for you] of the Qur'an. He has known that there will be among you those who are ill and others traveling throughout the land seeking [something] of the bounty of Allah and others fighting for the cause of Allah. So recite what is easy from it and establish prayer and give zakah and loan Allah a goodly loan. And whatever good you put forward for yourselves — you will find it with Allah. It is better and greater in reward. And seek forgiveness of Allah. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
